THE RECORDING ACADEMY® PRESENTS:”GRAMMY® CONNECT — THE NEW A&R”
When it comes to recognizing musical excellence, advocating for the well-being of music makers, and presenting the best of the best, The Recording Academy sets the bar. It was no surprise YouTube Space LA was the selected venue to host The Recording Academy’s “GRAMMY® CONNECT — THE NEW A&R” event during the 57th Grammy Awards festivities. The event featured a panel of music industry thought leaders representing a cross section of executives and music creators. Discussion covered the duties of an A&R, current state of the industry and the role YouTube plays in creating music sensations.

With YouTube’s in-house experts always on-hand, no need goes unmet. The facility provided the perfect space and atmosphere for creative minds to come together.
The night kicked off with a performance by YouTube sensation Us The Duo and proceeded into a panel discussion lead by panelists:
- Michael and Carissa Alvarado — Us The Duo
- Margaret Hart — Artist & Label Relations, YouTube Music
- Brad Haugen — CMO, SB Projects
- Jonathan Kalter — The MGMT Company
- Alex Wilhelm — Sr. Director A&R, Capitol Music Group
- DJ Skee – Moderator
RCA/Sony Music and Grammy-winning group Pentatonix closed the show with a breathtaking a capella performance.
In an interview with Thick Fabulous Life’s Dominique, Margaret Hart (Artist & Label Relations, YouTube Music) and on-air personality DJ Skee shared their thoughts on the 57th Grammy Awards, YouTube favorites and advice for anyone striving to achieve a dream.
We were also able to take a tour of the facility and believe me when I say it’s a must-see!
Special thanks to The Recording Academy, #GrammyConnect and YouTube Space LA and Jackie Cavanagh for an incredible evening.
