Valentine’s day is this weekend! If you have a honey, I am sure you are racking your brain for some unique gift or date night ideas. Valentine’s day holds a special meaning for me personally because it also marks 5 years that my husband and I have been together. Yep, it all started on V-Day at the Cheesecake factory. We stayed for hours after we were done eating and just talked and talked. Ok, enough about me..here are some great traditional and some not so traditional Valentine’s day ideas:
1. Have a movie night – (if you have kids, definitely try to get a sitter). Put on a great romantic comedy, old or new and cuddle. Have some popcorn, wine, and some chocolate covered strawberries. You might end up watching each other instead of the movie!
2. Dinner for Two at home – Surprise your valentine with their favorite home cooked meal. If you are like me, and cooking isn’t your thing, you can always have dinner catered from their favorite restaurant. Add a few candles to the table and put on some great, romantic music.
3. Have something delivered to their job – It might be cliché to some but I always love getting flowers delivered! If flowers aren’t your thing, you can always think outside the box and have something else delivered. Edible Arrangements is always a great place to order from. You can always have lunch delivered. If you want to do something silly, try a singing gram! (Ideas: Shari’s Berries, Cookies By Design, Man Crates, Singing Telegrams)
4. Have an impromptu date – It’s always fun to try new things together. Anytime you can laugh and be silly with each other is a great thing. You can do something fun like going to the skating rink, a fun night of cosmic bowling, or something more casual…take him to his favorite sports bar for some wings and beer.
5. Start the day with breakfast in bed – You will definitely put a smile on your love’s face when you start the day off with some yummy breakfast in bed. Homemade pancakes in the shape of a heart (too much?) or if you want to go light, a fruit and yogurt parfait and granola is great.
6. Send them to the Spa – Surprise your Valentine with a day at the spa. A lot of Spas have a package for couples and even offer a local discount. Enjoy a day of relaxation together.
7. Pretend your Tourists! – Get a hotel room for the night, go out and explore your city. Visit an Art museum, take a taxi ride, order room service! Spontaneity is sexy and fun.
